1. Tell us a bit about yourself.
I recently discovered I am an introvert. I love Vietnamese food and ramen dive restaurants are my jam! My husband is without a doubt my best friend and I am an annoying mother to a teenage daughter and a fun-loving 9-year-old son.
2. What was your first job and how did you get it?
My first job was at Burger King my sophomore year of high school. I worked the drive-thru window and loved every second of it. People would stop and tell my manager how courteous I was when serving them. I left that job and started working at TJ Maxx because of my love of discounted fashion!
3. How did you decide and get to your career today?
When I first got pregnant with my daughter, I had to drop out of college and start working for awhile. The process of visiting staffing agencies and facing different hurdles as a single parent gave me a fire to understand the behind the desk process of recruitment. It pushed me to grow my career in Talent Acquisition/HR. I have been growing in this career for over 15 years.
4. What advice would you have given your younger self? Or what is the best career advice you have ever received?
I would tell my younger self to save your money and ignore the opinions of others. I was so bogged down with what other people said it impacted my self-confidence and moves I made. I would reassure myself that I am capable and always trust my gut. The best career advice I've received is to self reflect on your own abilities and sharpen your weaknesses. This keeps me clear and focused on my true unique talent and abilities but also reminds me what I need to do to be well-rounded as a professional.
5. In 5 years, where do you hope to be professionally and personally?
I literally have no idea. I am contemplating a career transition into IT but if I stay on my current career track I hope to be in a Director level role for Talent Acquisition or maybe even a Consultant within the TA space.
