1. Tell us a bit about yourself
Hi, my name is Hayley and I am the founder and Chief Editor of The Daily Pretty, a collaborative knowledge and empowerment community for women. My professional background is in Business Management and Corporate Governance. I am all about collaboration over competition, girl power, following your dreams, and loving what you do! When I'm not working on TDP or my career, you'll find me doing yoga, spending time with my friends and family, and balancing it all with a healthy approach to lifestyle.
2. What was your first job and how did you get it?
My first *real* job was as an apprentice hairdresser, which I thought at the time was going to be my career! I got my apprenticeship by seeking out salons that I thought offered a beautiful customer experience that I wanted to be a part of and applied with them.
3. How did you decide and get to your career today?
I started in Business as an Administration Assistant and progressed to Coordinator and now Management roles. I did Business Management at uni while working in the industry where I gained so much practical experience that was extremely relevant and helpful. My career today has been a really organic journey, which I have absolutely loved and am so grateful for all of the opportunities I have had along the way. During the last year and a half, I have focused on realising my true potential and capabilities and learning to back myself, no matter what any one else tells me!
4. What advice would you have given your younger self? Or what is the best career advice you have ever received?
The best career advice I have ever been given (and this is relevant to SO much more than career), was that I was capable of so much more than I thought I was and I should not let a role or title define me and my career path. Back yourself ladies!
5. In 5 years, where do you hope to be professionally and personally?
This is always such an interesting question, because I definitely enjoy a level of "organic" personal growth and opportunity. I believe strongly in you get what you give and putting in the commitment and work to get there is key. In five years, I hope that The Daily Pretty community has continued to grow and that we are bringing value, knowledge, and inspiration to each and every one of our girl squad through our online platform and podcast. This is also a huge personal goal for me so I would say they go hand in hand!
Stay connected with Hayley!
