1. Tell us a bit about yourself
I am a Career Coach and the International Best Selling Author of Job Joy: Your Guide to Success, Meaning, and Happiness in Your Career. Over the course of my career, I’ve spent nearly two decades in traditional corporate jobs (including time in investment banking, consulting and industry), working for some of the top Fortune 500 companies such as Lehman Brothers, NBC and Luxottica.
I believe everyone deserves a career that excites and inspires them – and the feeling of happiness and fulfillment that comes from meaningful work. Through my work as an executive coach, international speaker, workshop facilitator and as the author of Job Joy, I have formally and informally helped thousands of clients, colleagues and friends find job satisfaction – whether they chose to stay put, find a new job or completely change careers.
My work has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Huffington Post, Business News Daily, The Ladders, and more – as well as on podcasts and stages covering career, success and finding life’s purpose. I earned my MBA in Finance and BS in Marketing and Psychology, and am also a Certified Dragontree Life Coach and Certified Dragontree Illuminator. When I’m not helping clients land their dream jobs, you can find me reading, cooking, getting creative (trying the lettering trend now!) or planning my next trip!
2. What was your first job and how did you get it?
My first post-MBA job was as an analyst in the Global Corporate & Investment Banking division of a major bank. While I was earning my MBA, I was teaching test-prep classes to adults to help them get into business and law graduate programs. It was actually one of my students that connected me to the person who would ultimately hire me.
3. How did you decide and get to your career today?
After spending nearly two decades in traditional jobs, changing careers and jobs multiple times (the most dramatic being from financial consultant to Fortune 500 marketing executive), I started to get asked for career advice - everything from resume tips to how to make a big career change like I had done. I finally decided to write a book, titled Job Joy, so that I could help more people be happier in their careers. It was then that I decided to take my own advice and turn my coaching side hustle passion into a full-time business.
4. What advice would you have given your younger self? Or what is the best career advice you have ever received?
Ahhh, so many things! My favorites - It's never too late. You deserve to have a career that lights you up and to be fully appreciated for the real you (quirks and all!) . You can be happy and fulfilled - and make good money.
5. In 5 years, where do you hope to be professionally and personally?
Helping even more amazing, high-achieving business women find jobs and build careers they absolutely love. An appearance on Morning Joe (one of my favorite morning shows from my days in Finance). More travel and adventure, and maybe write another book! :)
