Spotlight Series: Meet Career Fulfillment Coach Shani

1. Tell us about yourself

My name is Shani, Career Fulfillment Coach and owner of Shanicoaching. I am dedicated to working with IT professionals in guiding them towards finding their happiness and true calling in their career. I believe we spend most of our life either at work or thinking about work. Therefore it is essential for us to find what makes us fulfilled and proud as it affects our wellbeing, happiness, and confidence.

2. What was your fist job and how did you get it?

My first job was at a marketing and PR company when I was 14. I was the brand representative for different companies such as “Always,” “Britney Spears'” perfume,” “Duve” and any brand that wanted to market for teenagers. I was going to product launches and selling the products face to face. To get this job, I just studied the company, knocked on their door, and convinced them why they should hire me - it worked.

3. How did you decide and get to your career today?

I have always been the one that friends and family reach out to with their problems. People always told me it was so easy to open up to me. Also, all my friends as well as adults I knew, were always impressed with my curriculum and work experience so they reached out and I managed to help them find their passion and gave them the courage and structure to go for it. As a little kid, I knew I wanted to impact the world through global business. I just wasn’t sure how it would look. But I knew I’d have to have experience in both corporate companies and startups, to learn both working styles. After I reached my corporate goals quickly, in IBM, I started feeling like I was only making money for the “Big Boss” and not having a real impact and contribution on the world. I knew I had to be brave and leave this position to find this impact. After traveling around and being a bit lost for 3-4 months, I started seeing a coach. Then it dawned on me - I have been coaching all my life and it’s the thing I would and did do even without anyone paying me. Ever since, every day I wake up with a huge smile on my face, excited for each day to start!

4. What advice would you give to your younger self? Or what is the best career advice you have ever received.

To my younger self I would say: you did it right! Working and testing areas of work that interests you such as, cinema, marketing, PR, selling, IT, and in general helping people any chance you get, got you exactly where you are. It was the right thing to do; to find what is it that you like and don’t like because then it will all connect and help you with the empire you will build in the future. So the best career advice from me is, stay curious and explore all the areas that interest you. Each experience will teach you something. And, at the end when you will look back you will see how it all connected!

5. In 5 years where do you hope to be professionally and personally?

I hope to reach a million hearts through helping people find happiness in their careers and as a result, increase their level of happiness in life! It is all a mindset, which is something I discovered at a very young age. Once you get this, everything turns around for you and miracles begin to happen!
