1. Tell us a bit about yourself
Hi, I’m Nicola, a London-based Career & Life Coach and founder of Nicola Charlotte Coaching. I’m a huge foodie, big fitness fan and passionate about travel. Mexico & Bali are certainly up there with my “top” destinations!
I typically work with women in their 20’s & 30’s, helping them navigate their next steps in life, whether that's changing careers, moving abroad, setting up their own business or generally gaining clarity on their purpose. In a nutshell, my role is to get you from point A to B, and I’m fully committed to making that happen!
2. What was your first job and how did you get it?
Aside from bar/pub work, which I figure are probably pretty common (!), I spent many holidays working at music or sporting events such as Glastonbury or The Queen’s Tennis Championships. This felt like a dream job, as I was getting paid for something that I’d happily have done on a voluntary basis! These roles were always customer-facing, working as a steward/hostess, ensuring guests were experiencing the events as best possible! I found these jobs through networking & reaching out to people I knew who had done similar jobs previously.
3. How did you decide and get to your career today?
I’ve forever enjoyed connecting with people all around the world, learning about new cultures and listening to people’s stories. I’m a strong believer that we can all learn a thing or two from each other! When I began to realise that you can get paid for something you genuinely enjoy doing, it was a real turning point in where I was focusing all my energy. The prospect of being able to work from anywhere in the world, be my own boss and reap the rewards of my hard work was something I identified early on as being a “must-have” in my career.
4. What advice would you have given your younger self? Or what is the best career advice you have ever received?
Use your initiative. Be curious. Ask questions and stay honest. I think courage is key. I too often see women & men fall victim to “playing it safe” when it comes to their careers and getting stuck on the corporate ladder, allowing their lives to pass by on auto-pilot. Be courageous and stay honest to what you’re passionate about. Don’t let your inner critic or self-limiting beliefs be the barriers to your success!
5. In 5 years, where do you hope to be professionally and personally?
I envision myself having my own successful coaching practice working with women around the world and making positive changes in their lives. I’d love to be doing this from somewhere exotic, that’s within walking distance to the beach. Imagine being able to pop for a swim on your lunch break! Yes, please!
Stay connected with Nicola!
