1. Tell us a bit about yourself
I am the Co-Founder of the international consultancy, WorldCeres Inc., a Career Coach and Soft Skills trainer. I am also the Host & Creator of the.global.advocate.career.podcast and have over 25 years of experience in government, international affairs and education. I was born and raised in NYC and I am fluent in Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. I also have a working knowledge of French and Catalan. I am an online contributing writer, stand-up comedian, actor and First-Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo. So, I like to wear many hats!
2. What was your first job and how did you get it?
My very first job was working for a well-known and prominent campaign consultant in NYC which I landed through word of mouth. It was definitely a challenge and short-lived but it taught me a lot about New York City politics and started my career in it.
3. How did you decide and get to your career today?
I’ve held quite a few interesting, high-level positions but ultimately, they were geared towards executing someone else’s dream. It is now time to fulfill my dreams - while helping others as well. Being a career coach and a Soft Skills instructor is a start in that direction.
4. What advice would you have given your younger self? Or what is the best career advice you have ever received?
One piece of advice I would have given a younger me is: don’t let anyone try to convince you that you are less than - ever. The best career advice I have been given: Well it wasn’t really advice. I’ll never forget, early in my career an individual said to me that I shouldn’t try to aim higher and that there was nowhere for me to go! Needless to say, I knew they were wrong and it drove me to succeed.
5. In 5 years, where do you hope to be professionally and personally?
I see myself living my life to the fullest with my family, staying healthy and traveling for business and pleasure. Most importantly, always staying consistently connected to God.
Stay connected with Michele!
