1. Tell us a bit about yourself
I grew up in the Napa Valley where I was raised in a very loving home, I got good grades in school and was involved in a variety of sports and extracurricular activities. At the age of 11, my oldest brother was arrested for attempted murder and took a plea bargain where he was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. Back then I didn’t understand how to process my emotions in a healthy way, so in my late teens, I started using drugs, alcohol and sex as a way to escape.
Fast forward to 2014 (six years ago) when I finally hit my rock bottom and decided to get sober. That decision completely changed the trajectory of my life and I am grateful every day. Today, I live in Los Angeles where I run my business, Curated Splash. It’s a coaching and educational brand that helps people create clarity and congruency in behaviors so that they can manifest the life of their dreams. I call it Conscious Lifestyle Curation.
2. What was your first job and how did you get it?
My first “big girl“ job was working for an art gallery, where I sold paintings and sculpture. After graduating with a BFA in Illustration in 2009, I created a career manifestation journal with notes, drawings and collages. I applied to a ton of jobs that summer and was babysitting until I could find something that felt right. Honestly, though, it was a crazy sad story about how I got the job at the gallery. The then owner of the gallery was in a horrible bicycle accident and ended up in a coma. I answered an add on Craigslist as they needed an intern to work for free and help out.
I decided to give it a try since it seemed to align with a lot of the ideas in my manifestation journal. I received a call (one day after I had worked my first and only day for free) letting me know the owner had passed away and that they wanted to hire me full-time. The gallery was sold within a few months and I continued to work there for 6 years under the new ownership. I sold millions of dollars worth of artwork and learned how to run a successful profitable business. I never met the owner who died, but I feel like in a way he chose me to help keep his vision alive.
3. How did you decide and get to your career today?
After getting sober and manifesting my new life and dream job at a publishing house in LA, I took some time to go even deeper to really figure out what my purpose is in this life. I’m a great listener. I care deeply about helping others and I’m a creative businesswoman who has so much knowledge and wisdom to share. That’s how Curated Splash was born.
4. What advice would you have given your younger self? Or what is the best career advice you have ever received?
When you take 100% responsibility for the choices you make in life, you step into powerful vulnerability and create magnetism that manifests into miracles.
5. In 5 years, where do you hope to be professionally and personally?
In 5 years, I’d like to continue to have a thriving coaching business with seminars and workshops. Plus have published a few of my interactive illustrated workbooks and oracle cards!!
